Flashlight

How it works

A simulation made by Phasmopedia with the game’s numbers. The sounds are recreated: they aren’t the game’s.

  • Tier I · Metal flashlight

A retro metal flashlight, passed down through generations. It gives little light and a narrow beam: just enough to get around.

  • Tier II · Tactical flashlight

A compact, lightweight flashlight with a back button for a better grip. The beam is still narrow, but much brighter than Tier I.

  • Tier III · Large flashlight with a handle

A large flashlight with a carry handle. It’s the brightest and the only one with a wide beam: ideal for large rooms and open spaces.

How to use it

  • Every contract gives you one free Flashlight and you can bring up to 4. It always goes in your left hand: you turn it on and off with its own key even while holding other equipment in your right.
  • To drop it on the floor, your right hand has to be empty.
  • During a hunt it flickers rapidly if the ghost is within 10 m and on the same floor. Turned on within 7.5 m of the ghost, on the same floor, it attracts it like any other electronic equipment.

What it’s for

  • It lights your way while you look for the ghost room, objects and the rest of your equipment.
  • During a hunt, the flicker is your warning: the ghost is within 10 m (15 m if it’s a Raiju) and on your floor. Turn it off and hide or get away.
  • Flashlights you leave on the floor give light that doesn’t depend on the fuse box: useful if the ghost keeps turning off the lights or the fuse box. During a hunt they also flicker from the interference.

Tips

  • Turn it off when looking for Ghost Orbs with the Video Camera or prints with the UV Light: its light washes out the image and makes prints hard to see.
  • If you hide during a hunt, turn it off: on within 7.5 m, it helps the ghost find you.
  • Leave extra Flashlights in dark areas, like the path to your hiding spot or the ghost room.
  • In large rooms and open spaces, use Tier III: its wide beam lights up much more at a glance.

Trivia

  • In VR you can carry several Flashlights at once; on keyboard and controller, only one.
