Ghost footsteps

Hear how fast each ghost walks during a hunt, and measure the speed of the one hunting you: tap along to its footsteps and we’ll tell you which ghosts it could be.

Ghost speed (difficulty setting)

These settings also apply to the footstep buttons on the home page and on each ghost’s page.

Measure its speed

When you hear the ghost hunting, tap the button (or press the T key) on every footstep. Four taps are enough for an estimate; the more you tap, the more accurate it gets.

Tap on every footstep you hear.

Listen to each ghost

Each button plays for a few seconds; tap it again to stop it. The “sees you” ones simulate the ghost having line of sight on you: it starts at its own speed and accelerates up to 1.65 times that speed over 13 s.

Aswang

Slower than the rest, but when it sees you it speeds up faster than any other ghost: it reaches 2.53 m/s in 8.7 s.

Dayan

Her speed depends on what the nearest player is doing, if that player is within 10 m.

Deildegast

Fixed speed: it loses 0.1 m/s for each different object the players move. It does not speed up when it sees you.

Deogen

It always knows where you are. It runs at 3 m/s from far away and crawls at 0.4 m/s once it is close.

Gallu

Its speed changes with its state: protective equipment enrages it.

Hantu

The colder the room it is passing through, the faster it moves. It does not speed up when it sees you.

Jinn

With the fuse box on, if it sees you from more than 3 m away it runs at a fixed 2.5 m/s.

Kormos

Nearly blind: it only sees you within 5 m. When it heads toward a noise without seeing you, it moves 1.3 times faster.

Moroi

The lower the average sanity, the faster it moves, even in the middle of a hunt. It also speeds up when it sees you.

Obambo

It switches between calm and aggressive every 2 minutes, even in the middle of a hunt.

Raiju

Near active electronic equipment it runs at a fixed 2.5 m/s.

Revenant

Very slow while it has not detected you; once it does, it runs at 3 m/s to the last place it sensed you.

Thaye

It ages when you spend time near it: it loses 0.175 m/s for each year. It does not speed up when it sees you.

The Twins

Each hunt, only one of the two hunts: the slow one starts where the ghost is, and the fast one where it last interacted.

The Mimic

It copies the speed of whichever ghost it is mimicking, so it can sound like any ghost on this page. At the start of the contract it is “blank” and moves at the standard speed.

Where this comes from

  • The speeds come from the Phasmophobia Wiki and from each ghost’s page.
  • The footstep rhythm follows the relationship measured by the Zero Network (Phasmo Cheat Sheet) community: the time between two steps is 1 / speed − 0.075 seconds. At 1.7 m/s that is about 117 steps per minute.
  • The sounds are generated in your browser; they are not the game’s. What matters for recognizing the ghost is the rhythm, not the exact sound.
  • Can’t hear anything on your iPhone? Turn off silent mode: the browser respects it.
