A schematic plan, without doors or windows: each shape is a room as the game counts it (the Ouija Board, Ghost Orbs and the ghost room use these boundaries). The fuse box spawns in one of the marked spots.

Misleading rooms

The game splits some rooms differently from how they look. It matters for the Ouija Board, Ghost Orbs and the ghost room.

  • The Hallway is L-shaped: it runs down past the Men’s and Women’s Bathrooms and then turns toward the Janitor’s Closet.
  • The Staff Hallway crosses the whole back of the diner and turns the corner at the back exit door, next to the Kitchen.
  • The Foyer, between the front door and the Dining Area, can’t be the ghost room.

Where to loop the ghost

  • You can loop the ghost around the kitchen island, through the Dining Area or around the counter.

    In the Manager’s Office.

  • Ouija Board

    In the Janitor’s Closet.

  • Summoning Circle

    In the Men’s Bathroom.

Tips

  • With the fuse box on, the Cooler Room cools down to 1 °C instead of warming up. Don’t mistake it for the ghost room just because it’s cold.
  • The Foyer has no main room light, so you can’t use light there to slow your sanity drain.
  • “Ghost in the Machine” easter egg: shine a UV Light on the note in the Manager’s Office, find the numbers outside that the arrows point to (the code is 4-1-5) and open the safe under the desk. Put the debit card in the ATM in the Hallway, buy a soda with the dollar bill from the red vending machine next to it, and drop the coin into the arcade machine in the Break Room. When you leave in the truck, everyone in the lobby gets the ID card.
  • Bone: They spawn randomly anywhere the ghost can walk, in any room that can be the ghost room: never in the Foyer.

Trivia

  • In the game’s lore, it’s in Tucson, Arizona.
  • The Nell’s Diner sign flickers so it reads “Die.”
  • A “Demon Dog” movie poster nods to an early idea for the game: a demon dog chased you after you died, and if you outran it you came back to life.
  • A tumbleweed rolls down the road outside every 50 seconds.
